Aerolite's 3-5mm scoria grit and washed scoria sand products are a used as coarse and fine filter products in traditional sand filtering. They are commonly used in water purification applications in both industrial projects and in water treatment plants in areas such as council pools.
These products are very effective at removing both organic and inorganic matter due to the materials surface chemistry, high surface area and vesicular nature.
Scoria filter material has been found to be much better at removing Cryptosporidium and Giardia in swimming pool filtration than standard sand filter material due to its high surface area and its active surface chemistry.
The products can be provided in either bulk quantities or in one cubic meter bulk bags. Smaller bags may be available on request.
