Aerolite lightweight concrete aggregates are manufactured in 7, 10, 14, and 20mm size ranges. However the most commonly used product is a 10-14.0mm aggregate blend and the technical specs shown below are for this product size.

Please note that we also produce lightweight concrete sand which if used in conjunction with our aggregate can produce final densities by another 10% to 15% based on the mix design used. This can lead to final concrete densities of 1,600 kgs/m3 at strengths up to 55 Mpa

Light weight Aerolite concrete due to its vesicular nature has many other advantages: High thermal insulation, excellent noise attenuation and high fire rating when compared to normal dense weight concrete.

  AEROLITE LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE               
Basaltic, or heavyweight aggregate, normally used in dense weight concrete, has a specific gravity of 2.7–2.9 and a density of approximately 2610 kgs per cubic meter. 

Aerolite’s concrete aggregate is less than half this density and when used in place of heavier stone (representing approx 50% of total batch weight of concrete) reduces the finished weight of concrete by close to 25%.

AEROLITE Lightweight concrete:      1,850 Kgs/M3

If the sand used is replaced with Aerolite's Light weight Sand then it is possible to achieve a final concrete density of 1,600 Kgs/M3

 LIGHT BUT STRONG
With a ceiling strength of about 55 MPA at 28 days, lightweight concrete can be used for practically all construction applications. It is in common use for columns, beams, slabs and Precast walls in a wide variety of buildings. These range from two storey factories and office blocks to high rise commercial and residential projects.

There are many different and varied ways that lightweight concrete can be used in industry. We therefore have recognized concrete consultants available to analyze our clients’ specific needs and to then construct suitable mix designs. This service is very personalized and achieves results second to none. Aerolite also offers to negotiate with the local concrete suppliers on behalf of our clients.
